In Mid November, the aesthetics team has been meeting to work on the interior and exterior designs. On Sunday, we were able to finalize what the designs would be. On Tuesday Dec 2, the team will have sketches of the interior and exterior designs. We will now start working on designs for canoe supports and the cross section.
Tuesday December 2, we will be visiting T.B. Penick. Anyone who is going needs to be dressed in jeans and close-toed shoes. There we will be shown their facilities and trained to use their materials and tools. We will be trained on how to use the grinder and how to stain. Everyone is invited, but it is highly recommended that aesthetics and construction members attend.
We will be meeting at 2:00pm on Tuesday at U409. Please RSVP to the Aesthetics Team Lead, Jacqui Le at [email protected] by 7:00pm Monday. Please also state if you are willing and able to drive.
Tuesday we will be expecting to see T-shirt Designs from each of the members for our competition.
Concrete Mix Team will be making plates with the fiber reinforcement and from their final choices of mix design.
Hull Analysis Team will continue their work with verifying the waterline and the analysis with the load cases from Hooke.
On Wednesday, November 12th after one of the final concrete mixes, the team members polled on their favorite theme for this year. Results from the Aesthetics team meeting and decision will be announced on Tuesday November 18th at 7:30pm.
On Tuesday, November 11, the team mixed more concrete, closing on the final mix.
On Sunday November 9th, the team put together the first white concrete mix. We made two sets of 3 mixes and picked a workable mix to begin laying the concrete in our mold. Although the turnout was low, we made great strides in developing our concrete mix.
We have just received a state-of-the-art Portland Cement for our mix. We will be receiving metaokalin on Thursday, November 6th to begin mixing on Sunday, November 9th.
This past weekend we had 15 concrete canoe members come out to rowing practice! (November 1)
In Late October we put began to cut styrofoam for our mold. We are shooting to put together a female mold to accurately convey our dimensions.
Wednesday the team met (Early October) to do our first batch of concrete mixing. We created 4 mixes, showing our new recruits how to mix concrete and learn the different components of our lightweight mix.
We created last year's final mix, as well as improving it with our new addition of Metakaolin. We also improved the workability by adding a right-off-the-market Superplasticizer.
Also, this past Saturday October 11 at 9:00am, the team met at Fiesta Island for the year's first paddling practice. The new prospects battled the 25mph wind and whitecaps in the bay.
